Guided River Severn Canoe Trips for
Schools & Youth Groups

Our River Severn canoe trips for schools and youth groups offer a practical and engaging way to develop confidence, teamwork and resilience through a shared outdoor experience. Delivered on the River Severn, these guided day trips provide a rewarding adventure without the need for an overnight stay.

With over 40 years of combined paddling and expedition experience, our team works on the River Severn daily throughout the season and has an in depth understanding of the river, its conditions and access points. Led by qualified instructors, pupils learn basic canoeing skills, river awareness and group communication through a mixture of paddling, challenges and games. Trips can be tailored to suit your timetable, with options ranging from short paddles to full-day journeys.

On selected days, groups can return via the Severn Valley Railway, adding a memorable and educational finish to the trip.

Available May to July, all canoe days are carefully planned and AALA licensed. We hold £10 million public liability insurance and provide full supporting information to assist with school risk assessments and EVC approval, ensuring a safe, well-structured river activity delivered by River Severn specialists.

Who are our canoe trips suitable for?

Our guided school canoe trips are suitable for primary and secondary school pupils and we recommend the shorter, 5 mile canoe trip for younger pupils. Pupils need to be able to swim 25 metres to go on this trip, for safety reasons. For less confident pupils we recommend our kayak trips on the canal in Kinver.

Canoe & Train routes

The Severn Valley Railway runs on Thursdays and Fridays during the week, so the steam train option is available on these days. We will provide you with your tickets on the day. The train stations are within walking distance of the river.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

The min group size is 6 paying people and the maximum group size is 60.

What happens in bad weather?

If the weather isn't safe for the canoe trip to go ahead or the river levels are 1 metre or above on the day of the canoe trip, we will offer you a kayak session on the canal in Kinver instead and the difference in price will be refunded. Alternatively, we can arrange another date.
