At Bear Creek Adventures, we bring outdoor learning and adventure to life through exciting, well organised experiences for schools, families, home education groups, youth groups and outdoor enthusiasts. From kayaking on the Kinver Canal and guided canoe trips along the River Severn to Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, school enrichment programmes, outdoor activity days and first aid training, we offer a wide range of opportunities to explore, learn and develop new skills.
Operating across Shropshire, Worcestershire and the surrounding areas, we make the most of a variety of outdoor locations, including rivers, canals, woodlands and scout camps, with Arley Arboretum coming soon.
We believe outdoor experiences can bring out strengths and abilities that people may not even realise they have. A quieter child can emerge as a leader, new friendships can form and confidence can grow. Through hands on learning, teamwork and shared adventures, we create opportunities to try something new, step outside familiar routines and help young people discover what they're capable of.

Canoe Expeditions
River Severn
Our Duke of Edinburgh canoe expeditions on the River Severn offer young people an exciting opportunity to complete their Bronze, Silver or Gold awards while developing confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork. As an approved DofE provider, we deliver structured programmes including training, practice and qualifying expeditions, helping participants develop navigation, paddling and expedition skills. All equipment is provided, with experienced instructors offering appropriate supervision, guidance and assessment throughout. We are AALA licensed and hold £10 million public liability insurance.
Prices: £60 per pupil, per day.

Our outdoor enrichment programmes take learning beyond the classroom, helping young people build confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork. Delivered across rivers, canals, woodlands and scout camps, activities include canoeing, kayaking, climbing, high ropes, archery, bushcraft and team challenges. From one-off activity days to a series of sessions tailored to your school's enrichment goals, our programmes support personal development, wellbeing and environmental awareness. Led by experienced, DBS-checked instructors, each experience encourages pupils to develop new skills, overcome challenges and discover what they can achieve.

Our home education outdoor programme brings families together through exciting adventures, shared experiences and opportunities to make new friends. We're building a welcoming network of home ed families, offering regular activities where children can connect, build friendships and learn at their own pace. From kayaking and canoeing to woodland adventures and group challenges, our sessions encourage confidence, teamwork and new skills in a relaxed, inclusive and supportive environment. We recognise that every child is different and aim to create positive experiences where everyone feels welcome, comfortable and able to join in.

Adventure Days Corporate Groups
Our corporate adventure days offer a refreshing way to bring colleagues together, strengthen relationships and enjoy time away from the workplace. Perfect for team building, staff away days, company celebrations and wellbeing events, choose from guided canoe trips along the beautiful River Severn or kayaking adventures on the peaceful Kinver Canal. Both offer opportunities to relax, enjoy the outdoors and build connections through a shared experience. Trips can be tailored to suit your group's size, abilities and timetable, with the option to include a stop at a local pub for food and refreshments. Led by experienced instructors, our corporate adventures combine fresh air, fun and teamwork for a memorable day out.

Our guided River Severn canoe trips offer schools and uniformed groups an exciting outdoor adventure, helping young people build confidence, resilience and teamwork. Travelling together along the river, participants develop paddling skills, river awareness, communication and decision making while exploring the Shropshire countryside. Designed to encourage personal development, cooperation and a sense of achievement, our trips provide a memorable learning experience beyond the classroom. All equipment is provided, with experienced instructors delivering safe, structured sessions.

Our outdoor activity days offer an exciting way for schools and youth groups to enjoy adventure, build friendships and take on new challenges together. Perfect for Year 6 post-SATs celebrations, Year 7 transition and team building, Scout and Guide groups and end-of-year rewards, activities include canoeing, kayaking, climbing, high ropes, archery, bushcraft and team challenges. Delivered across rivers, canals, woodlands and scout camps, each day can be tailored to suit your group's age, abilities and interests. Delivered by an experienced instructor in a relaxed, supportive environment, training is tailored to real-life situations and workplace requirements. Whether you're learning first aid for the first time or refreshing existing skills, our courses help you feel prepared, confident and capable of taking action when it matters most.

Kayak Trips
Weekends/School Hols
Our self guided kayak trips on the Kinver Canal offer a fun, relaxed outdoor adventure for families, friends and small groups. Launching from The Vine Inn, Kinver, our 90 minute trips are suitable for ages 5+ and provide a great way to explore the beautiful canal at your own pace. Using stable, easy to paddle sit-on-top kayaks, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, spot local wildlife and spend quality time together on the water. Why not round off your adventure with food or a drink at The Vine Inn? Open every year from Easter to October, at weekends and daily during school holidays.
Prices: £14 per child · £18 per adult + online booking fee.

More Than Adventure – Our Story & Our Purpose
At Bear Creek Adventures, we believe that different environments create new opportunities to shine. It's a belief rooted in the personal experience of our co-founder, Monty Beaumont.
As a young person, Monty struggled with aspects of school life. His dyslexia went unrecognised for years, despite his natural intelligence, excellent memory and enthusiasm for learning. But everything changed when a school kayaking trip introduced him to the outdoors and a completely different way of learning.
That first adventure changed the course of his life. Monty went on to become an accomplished paddler, climber and expedition leader, working around the world and with organisations including The Prince's Trust, before establishing his own outdoor adventure business.
Today, that experience shapes everything we do at Bear Creek Adventures. Alongside Monty's outdoor leadership and operational expertise, his wife and co-founder Katie brings 20 years of experience at Acorn Adventure, working closely with schools on customer relationships, planning and organising outdoor experiences.
Together, we understand that every child is different and that sometimes it takes a new environment or experience to reveal strengths that might otherwise go unnoticed. That's why we choose to deliver our programmes across a variety of outdoor settings, from rivers and canals to woodlands and scout camps. Each offers different experiences, challenges and opportunities for young people to develop confidence, build friendships, discover new strengths and shine in their own way.

Frequently asked questions
Where do your activities take place? We deliver outdoor adventures, education and enrichment programmes across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire, making the most of a variety of locations including rivers, canals, woodlands and scout camps. Our self-guided kayak trips operate from The Vine Inn on the Kinver Canal, while our guided canoe trips and DofE expeditions take place on the River Severn, primarily around Bridgnorth. School enrichment programmes and activity days are delivered at locations including Kinver Scout Camp, Rhydd Covert Scout Camp and the Kinver and Wolverley Canal, with Arley Arboretum coming soon. First aid courses are held in a variety of locations.
Do you provide all equipment?
Yes. All paddlesports equipment is provided, including buoyancy aids and safety equipment.
Do you run school canoe trips?
Yes. Canoe day trips for schools are a key part of what we offer, as well as DofE Expeditions.
When is kayak hire available?
Kayak hire on the Kinver Canal runs from April to October, on weekends and during school holidays.
What is the minimum age for kayak hire?
Children have to be a minimum of 5 to kayak on the canal, when accompanied by an adult.
Can I take my dog on a kayak?
Yes you can. We recommend booking a 3 seater so that your dog can sit comfortably in the middle.
Can you tailor an enrichment programme to our school's needs?
Yes. We offer everything from one off activity days to a series of outdoor enrichment sessions, tailored to your school's objectives, pupils' ages and abilities. Our team can help you plan a programme that supports confidence, teamwork, personal development and outdoor learning.
